Latest Updates - (way overdue..... - sorry!)
I have been so busy dealing with the recovery process and complications, I haven't had the time or energy to write much about it. The good news is that the triple bypass open heart surgery was a complete success. I am almost fully recovered from it, and have much more oxygen in my system. I do not get out of breath nearly so easily as before. I felt pretty well, and have even been able to shoot a couple of matches.
Shortly after the heart surgery I developed diverticulitis. That put me back in the hospital three times in extreme pain. I am still having problems with that, but I think progress is being made. I am hoping that surgery will not be needed. I am getting very tired of doctors, surgeons, and hospitals!! It could take another month or so to shake this one off.
A good friend of mine, Larry Davis, and I are flying to Los Angeles early Thursday morning, and then we are driving to Valencia, CAlifornia, to the hotel. The hotel is about twenty minutes by car from Piru, California, where the West Coast Steel Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
It will be possibly the largest steel match of the year, with entries limited to 340. KC Eusebio will be there, along with a lot of other top shooters, so it's not only a good match to shoot, it's also fun to watch the top guys shoot!
My shooting is still a bit rusty due to lack of practice, and lack of matches shot, but I am starting to get back up to speed. I am planning to shoot my High Standard Rimfire Optic pistol with the OKO sight and a barrel of my own design and built in my own shop. I am also going to enter the Rimfire Rifle Optic class with a Ruger 10/22 rifle with a Tactical Solutions barrel, OKO sight, and a prototype all CNC machined ultra-light aluminum stock that I built. Since competition with a rimfire rifle is totally new to me, so far I am faster with the pistol. However, with some practice I think this new race gun stock is going to get me some pretty good speed. I can feel the potential when I shoot it, but I haven't shot it enough to really get it up to speed!
