e-Postal Handgun Match #3 "Jack-N-Jill" Results

Well, the results are in, and the scores are all tabulated. Everyone had a good time, got in some shooting, and did very well as to accuracy.

The high risk/high value twentyfive point bulls in the corners required some careful strategy, and more that one shooter paid the penalty for taking the gamble and missing the shot! I think LouG was the only shooter to hit one of the twenty-five pointers shooting off-hand. A gutsy shot, I'd say, but this is all for fun, no prize money, no fame, no million dollar endorsements, like I said, just for fun, so it isn't to be taken too seriously.

One of the things to keep in mind is that in an emergency self defense situation, a seven ring and a ten ring shot will probably have the same result on a bad guy, so I can safely say that any goblin that has any one of you shooting at him is in BIG trouble.

As you can see, I have entered several of the classes too. There has been some discussion between several of us as to if I should enter or not, and if there was money on the line, I probably wouldn't do so.

These matches, however, are for the fun of the competition, and a good excuse to drag out a few handguns you might not have shot in a while. I think I had as much fun shooting the pellet pistol as I did shooting better guns in the other classes! (..... and no, I DON'T want to talk about my score with the 9mm. Tarurus, thank you.....)

I have someone else verify my scores, and my targets are available for anyone to see. I haven't posted them to the blog, as looking at targets gets boring after a while, and they start to look all the same. If you really want to see any of them, I can either email you the JPG's, or post them.

I should also mention that I do not practice or shoot any of the match targets in advance of the match, and I usually don't choose the final target until just before I announce the match.

After bringing this match to a close, several thoughts remain, and several entries have stuck in my mind.

LukeP deserves special recognition for his entry with Daisy CO2 pistol shooting BB's. Those BB's are like little knuckleballs, and he shot very well. Oh, he's from Minnesota and he's nineteen, so he has to wait two more years before he can get his own handgun in Minnesota. Any of you Minnesotans (?) want to give LukeP a little help getting in some range time with a handgun for the next match?

I was really proud of KeeWee's shooting, as she has only been shooting a bit over a year, and almost all of it at pin tops. Bench rest was totally new to her, but she shot her very best, and turned in some very fine times.

I was also impressed by LouG not only shooting at, but actually hitting the 25 point bull while shooting off-hand. That's some fine shooting.

Thanks to all who entered, you ALL shot well, and can be proud of how you did. (Except me and the 9mm. Taurus, which I STILL don't want to talk about.....)

Within the next week or so I will have decided what the next match will be, and will get it posted for your shooting pleasure!!
