Didn't Make the Cut - Oh Well.....

The results for the finalists in the Weblogs Awards for 2005 have been announced, and although in the Sports Blog category we got more nominations that any other blog, we didn't get selected for the final fifteen.

The breakdown of the final fifteen is as follows:

7 -- Pro football, basketball, baseball
6 -- College football, basketball, baseball
1 -- Auto racing, assorted
1 -- Cricket

I knew as a shooting sports blog it would be an uphill battle to even get into the final fifteen so all of you could vote, but it was not to be.

Lots of people don't like guns to start with, and other folks don't consider shooting sports to even BE sports, in spite of the fact that shooting sports are one of the only, if not THE only, sports found in both the Summer and the Winter Olympics.

I tried to make the Mr. Completely blog not just as good as, but way better than many of the other sports blogs, so they would HAVE to put us through to the finals.

It didn't work.

Thanks to those of you who nominated me for the award. That in itself is an honor, and I am grateful for your support.

In spite of that, I feel like I've let you all down..............

Didn't let me down.

Let's keep an eye out for other contests we can try to inject "shooting sports" into.

Who gives a FLYING **** what the rest of the "sports types" vote for? If they don't like shooting sports I would just as soon not have to deal with them or for that matter be included in their arena. Your blog is designed for those of us who think shooting sports are fun to do rather than just watch. It looks to me that the top 15 are mostly for watchers.

I enjoy the blog, keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words. Damiphino makes an interesting observation. None of the "Sports Blogs" are orientated towards sports participants, only towards spectators. I didn't see anything on choosing a good football, or how to better play shortstop, mostly just editorials about various sports teams, their coaches, personnel, who should be traded, which coaches should be fired, and so forth. All arm chair quarterback observations. That tells you something....

Whatever you have done, you certainly have not let us down. Who gives a fly F what those limp-wristed-needle-dick-cry-at-the-sight-of-a-gun-pacifist-bigoted-pansies in San Francisco (or whatever pinko city the web logs are run out of) think.

Your tops in our book!

keep it up

Most sports, college or professional, are MONEY GAMES. The sports are run to make money, and they cost beaucoup money to run.

The players, professional AND amateur, are pampered princes and princesses.

It's all ego and money.

That leaves out shooting sports, which is all about PERFORMANCE and RULES.

You didn't fail, the cretins who ran the contest don't know what sport is, and will never know.

BTW, I've just ranted on this subject in MY blog, here: http://rivrdog.typepad.com/rivrdog/2005/12/bcs_sucks_ducks.html
