Someone Explain This For Me?
Hmmmm...... If each piece is the same size, and the overall triangles are the same size, where does the "hole" come from?

The youtube vid. doesn't explain it correctly. There is another youtube video that does explain it correctly, but it's more fun if you figure it out yourself.

ok, enuff fun - 'splian it to me, please...
david
The four pieces taken together are NOT a triangle! It's really a four sided figure.
The diagonal line in the upper figure actually bows inward and outward in the lower. This difference in area is the open square.
Calculate the angles of the lower left corner of each triangle invtan(2/5) = 21.8 deg, invtan (3/8) = 20.55 deg
BINGO! Danno nails it!!!!
Mr. C.
thank you! the angles check out, as noted... good eye.
