It's Called Independence Day.....

Every year on the 4th. of July we all take a day off from work, maybe drag out the barbeque, get together with some friends, and maybe watch a fireworks show once it gets dark. All of the local merchants tie in their advertising promotions to the celebration of the 4th. of July holiday.

The American holiday held every year on July 4th. is Independence Day. July 4th. is only the date on which we celebrate our independence. Independence Day is not about "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet" as the advertising jingle goes, but rather, it's about celebrating our independence from oppression and our freedom to enjoy such things.

Don't lose sight ofwhat this celebration is all about. When someone wishes you a Happy 4th. of July, in return, wish him a Happy Independence Day.

For a good read about Independence day with a little history thrown in, have a look at Liberty News for what they have to say about it....

The fourth of July is my birthday.

I don't really celebrate it.

Instead I celebrate Independence Day by going to the range and maintaining my means to remain independent.

For those of you that don't, Thank you for the birthday wishes you sent my way.

For those of you that do, Thank you for being my brothers and sisters.

I'm with Dennis! We (the Bull Mountain Drifters cowboy shooting club) celebrated Montana style by holding a two day Town Folk shoot at the invitation of the City of Roundup MT. We held the shoot right along with all the rest of the celebration in the city. The cool part was that the "city fathers" would pay for any of the event ticket holders to shoot free and try Fast Draw and Showdown. Both are done with SAA's in 45 Colt with wax bullets. We had a lot of first time shooters introduced to six-guns and had a bunch of mini-contests between friends and family. Even a number of youngsters (with parents in tow)got to try.

Well, I had planned on spending Independence day at the KRRC range firing off a couple of 30 round mags of .223

But life intervened and instead I spent July 3 at the hospital with my wife having a new son :) We missed the 4th by and hour and 20 minutes.
