Rimfire Roundup #8
And away we go with this weeks' world's greatest roundup of rimfire stuff, number #8, or something like that!
Azreel of FreeSpiritMind.com starts us off with his favorite gun of all time - the gun he grew up shooting, and still owns to this day. Every one should (and usually does, or has at some point) own, the .22 caliber Marlin Model 60.
Since the Marlin Model 60 is grooved for scope mounting you might want to read through Fug's post on rifle scopes, where you'll find everything you always wanted to know about scopes but were afraid to ask! It's all there, and in good clear detail at Fugger Nutter's place.
A couple of days ago, Xavier of Xavier Thoughts, became the surprised new owner of a Harrington & Richardson Model 923 revolver. He had often seen these inexpensive wheelguns on pawn shop shelves, and had been intrigued, but not enough to pay the $50-100 price they usually sell for. When one came his way as a gift, he could not turn it down. Here's his review and range report.
At The Other Side of Kim you can read his review of the Colt Scout revolver, available in .22 LR and .22 Magnum.
Since April 1st. was just a few days ago, Mr. Completely did a post on his Jennings J-22 Terminator target pistol.
Ronnie, proprietor of the Smokin' Gun blog, took mama out shooting, and they worked their way up in caliber, wisely starting with a rimfire .22, then as comfort level allowed, moved up to larger handguns. Here's the whole range report.
It sounds like a good time was had by all!
For our last entry in this edition of Rimfire Roundup, Vile Bill of Firing For Effect of has submitted the rules for a combined rimfire rifle and rimfire pistol steel plate match. Some guys in his home club (Gopher Flats and Southwest Pistol League) put it together.
It's a Postal Match called Cedric's Postal Match that might be of interest to some clubs, as they can set up the steel targets according to the diagrams in the rules, shoot the match, and then send in their scores to see how they did against other clubs shooting the same match. The deadline is 30 September 2006.
That's it for this edition of Rimfire Roundup. If you get the chance, go download some of those targets for the current e-Postal matches, (see the top of this page, or the right sidebar) and drag those rimfire guns out to the range and shoot some match entries!
Deadline for posts for next week's Rimfire Roundup is next tuesday night!
Have Fun!
