Feathered visitor!
This morning as I walked through the living room headed towards the kitchen to get more coffee, I happened to look through the sliding glass door to our front deck, and there's this hawk sitting on our front deck railing watching me!We do see hawks in the area from time to time, but usually we just see them in the air. Once in awhile we'll see one on a fence or telephone pole watching for dinner to walk by. I've never seen one brave enough to sit on our deck railing.
We do see other birds, such as junkos, sparrows, goldfinches, robins, Alaska robins, woodpeckers, and blue jays, but never before have I seen a hawk this close!
Yes, that IS snow on the railing! I guess the snow was cold on the hawk's feet, as he has one off the railing in this picture.
That proves it. You can't say we're not a bunch of hawks around here..........

Hate to be the one to burst your bubble but that's not a Hawk. It is one of the latest spy cam models. The Hummingbird version should be out in your area this Spring.

Hawks are cool. We have a mated pair of Red-Tailed Hawks that hang out on the power pole about 200 yards from our house. I have seen Kestrals (Sparrow Hawks) in the yard also.
