God Bless The U.S.A.

Mr. Completely is in there somewhere (Click the picture for larger)

There's been some talk around the blogosphere about just how terrible everything has become here in the U.S.A., how so much has changed, it's not like it was twenty years ago, how we are just plain doomed.

Sorry, I'm not buying that. Do we have problems. Yup, we sure do. Some folks think freedom and liberty are a "set it and forget it" deal. Nope. It doesn't work that way.

Don't like the decisions being made by the politicians? Well, how hard did you work to try and get better ones elected? Were you active in your local political party? A precinct officer, maybe, or a county party level officer or chairman? If your state has precinct caucuses, did you attend? Did you actively work on the campaign for any of the political offices? Have you ever been to your political party's county or state conventions?

For some of you, the answer to the above questions are mostly "yes", and without your involvement, we'd be in a lot worse shape than we are. We thank you for your effort.

For the rest of you, maybe it's time to wake up and get involved, even if it IS inconvenient. I can promise you the alternative, in the long run, is a WHOLE LOT more inconvenient.

The following lyrics sorta sum up where I'm coming from:
God Bless The U.S.A.
by Lee Greenwood

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And, I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up (!)
next to you
and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea,
from Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And, I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me.
And, I'll gladly stand up (!)
next to you
and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
God Bless the U.S.A!

God Bless the U.S.A!

I must respectfully disagree with your "within the system" advice, sir.

Operating within the system to, at the least, halt the slide of US society into a pan-European style of socialism is a non-starter.

The Euro model gives complete control over individual destiny to the national and supra-national governments. The US Constitution gives such control to the individual, or is supposed to.

What is supposed to happen and what is actually happening are two different things, though, and therin lies the rub: our two-party, elected governments have chosen the Euro route, either intentionally as in the case of the Democratic Party, or by acquiescence, as in the case of the Republican Party.

In any case, both parties have abandoned the Constitution and it's pure creed of individual destiny.

It stands to reason that working within such a corrupt system can only produce more corruption, unless and until the upstarts considerably outnumber those who seek to support the current degradation of the Constitution.

No, I have abandoned all thought of working within the system, and I consider my remaining life energy better spent on preparing those who will have to actually fight (as in Armed Struggle) to preserve and re-establish individual liberty in this nation.
