Can't Afford Ted Nugent
One of the potential speakers I have contacted for the Reno Gunblogger Rendezvous Dinner is Ted Nugent.
I finally received an email from one of his people, and it looks like ol' Ted is not going to be speaking at our Rendezvous.
Here's the description of his least expensive personal appearance:
1) PERSONAL APPEARANCE. Mr. Nugent can make a brief personal appearance at your location. This is our most streamlined appearance, and includes brief remarks, and photo op with your principals.
Starting fee for this service is $25,000!
It ain't gonna happen, Ted, but thanks anyway..........

How did you contact him?
Did you try to go through the NRA? Or get to him directly? THrough his web page or other means?
It sounds like you went through his speakers bureau. Try to get through to him through other means - and/or stress that it is an entirely non profit pro gun event. If he is in the area - and doesn't have to incurr any costs, he might do it gratis. Ya never know, but you will certainly never find out going through the speakers bureau (who only get paid if he gets paid).

If we were contacting them as a world-wide multi-media/news/editorial gun and military publication with well over one million focused readers a year, and told them that we were going to have forty or fifty of our top editors there for him to speak to, I wonder what the answer would have been.

Got to sell the nmessage, Mr. C...write him a personal letter, no email, and chat with him about the importance to R2KBA of the gunblogs. If you can do it without too huge a dose of ego, tell him that you are the elected Chief Gunblogger of the Fourth Dimension, or whatever your official title is.
Tell him that gunblogging, while very important, is a low-cash environment.
If you like, I'll format a letter after some research...
Ted would be a great speaker. (Or maybe Dick Cheney.)
The 'non-for-profit' emphasis seems like a good point.
Let's (each of us) send him a note.
I'll offer to cover his ammo cost if we have a 'recreational moment' and provide airfare (with enough advance notice).
He's a has-been in the music business, so he has to make the big bucks somehow.

He was like $2000 bucks last I checked, and a HUGE 2nd Amendment guy.

UPDATE: US Citizen offered to pay Mr. Nugent's airfare and buy his ammo if we got to go to the range at the Reno Gunblogger Rendezvous, and posted the offer on Mr. Nugent's forum. Shortly after the offer was posted, someone in the Nugent organization deleted the post. Perhaps they don't want his fans to know that the offer was made, and he turned it down?
