Character Quiz II
Wow, it looks like I stumped nearly everyone with the first Character Quiz! I didn't think it was all that hard, but I'll give you all a second chance to redeem yourselves.
I really expected Rivrdog to nail all four without breaking a sweat, but all credit goes to DirtCrashr for getting Percy Dovetonsils.
Here's the answers from Quiz #1:
1. Mrs. Nussbaum - One of the characters on the Fred Allen show, a denizen of "Allen's Alley"
2. Claude Horribly - A Steve Allen Character.
3. Wally Ballou - The roving reporter and winner of sixteen diction awards, from Bob & Ray.
4. Percy Dovetonsils - In DirtCrashr's words "Percy is the coke-bottle eyeglassed, lisping, effeminate, bathrobe wearing funny-mustached character", a wonderful character from Ernie Kovacs.
OK, let's try this with a few easier ones:
1. Gertrude and Heathcliffe
2. Digger O'dell
3. Ethyl Mertz
4. Mortimer Snerd
All of these have provided us with lots of laughs in years past, and these four should be easier to identify compared to the last group.
Don't forget, extra credit for additional information about the characters!

OK, I get 2 of the 4
Gertrude and Heathcliffe were seagulls portrayed by Red Skelton, probably my all-time favorite comedian.
Ethel Mertz was Lucy & Ricky Ricardo's
landlady on "I Love Lucy", played by Vivian Vance.
Mel
Mel,
Absolutely right on both! I thought Ethyl Mertz would be the toughest one, too!

Mortimer Snerd as the second puppet used by Edgar Bergen. The leading puppet was Charlie McCarthy (wearing a monicle).
By the way Edgar Bergen's daughter is Candice Bergen.
Eddie
Eddie: Right on! I still see bits and pieces of Mortimer Snerd in other comic characters even today! Edgar Bergen was brilliant.

Digger O'Dell was a character on The Life of Riley. I think he was a mortician.
Mycroft6: You got it! Digby "Digger" O'Dell was the undertaker character on the radio show "The Life of Riley". Riley was played by William Bendix.
It looks like you all are getting good at this! I'll get another one up in a few days. Eddie from Ireland has suggested some good ones, and I've got a few too!
