F-14 -- The Final Cruise

F-14D from Fighter Squadron 213, the Fighting Blacklions

Another great picture!

LT Scott “Timmeh” Timmester is photo-blogging the Final Cruise of the F-14 Tomcats.

Here's his description of the above photos.

"F-14D from Fighter Squadron 213, the Fighting Blacklions, based aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, CVN-71. The Blacklions and the Tomcatters of VF-31 are the last two US Navy squadrons to fly the F-14, which has been in service since 1974."

Since this is the final cruise for the F-14s, I thought a couple of photos were in order.

There are more photos posted on Flickr HERE.

Hat tip to Murdoc Online for finding these!!

I'm confused: I thought the Navy just spent untold millions of bux turning the Tomcats into BombCats, and now they retire them?

WTF, over?
